We work with men and women throughout the divorce process, from the decision to file, through negotiated settlements, mediation or trial, to post-decree requests for modification or enforcement of existing orders. We handle all issues related to, or arising out of, divorce, including child custody, property division, child support and alimony (spousal maintenance). For more information, go to our divorce page.
Child Custody and Visitation
We will work with you at any stage of a child custody or visitation matter, from the determination of temporary custody or parenting plans, to requests for enforcement or modification of a final order. We will help you establish custody and visitation arrangements that take the best interests of your children into consideration while protecting your rights as a parent. See our page on custody and visitation to learn more.
Child Support and Spousal Support
We will review all proposed child support orders for compliance with DC guidelines and to verify that all relevant income has been included in the calculation. We will also help you determine whether alimony is required and, if so, the amount, frequency and duration of payments. Go to our child support and spousal support page for more information.
The Equitable Division of Marital Property
We will help you equitably distribute the debts and assets of your marriage, including business property, investments and bank accounts, real estate and retirement assets. For additional information, see our page on the division of assets.
Prenuptial and Post-nuptial Agreements
If you are considering marriage and will be bringing assets into the marriage that you wish to protect, or if you have children from a prior marriage, we can help you alleviate property concerns by preparing and executing a prenuptial or post-nuptial agreement to dictate the distribution of assets in the event of a divorce.
Temporary Protection Orders
We handle all matters related to proceedings to secure protective or restraining orders in situations involving domestic violence or abuse.
Paternity Actions
We will represent clients in proceedings to determine paternity, as well as any proceedings for child support or visitation that may result from the determination.
